The songs, the voice, the rock. It all comes together. Bring it, Split Single!
Favorite track: (Nothing You Can Do) To End This Love (live at Electrical Audio).
Sat in a classroom led by an old nun
Sister thought she knew all about rock n roll
But instant karma got the best of her
When she lied about holding Lennon’s hands in her own
All four wheels lifted at night
I’d never seen a car sit on bricks
Guess we’ll stay home
And then a kingdom imagined
Sprouted up from the discs that we spun on the floor
I felt the rush of possible
I was bitten by the sound amplified
What did they mean when they said to me
“You won’t understand this now”
Cause I got it thoroughly
It was as clear to me as white hot slices of sun
Harmony, tenderness,
Human warmth are not worth
Just cutting up
Who do you worship
That tells you to aim your clip
at rainbows of love
She loves her and he loves him
There’s nothing you can do to end this love
We all have red blood,
Heart and nerves under skin
Deserving the same
(Love will not wait…)
Anyone dumb enough
To stand between equal loves
Gets leveled in shame
(…or bend to hate)
We still got our friends
We check in all the time
We know it’s all about love
She loves her and he loves him
There’s nothing you can do to end this love
A or B or AB or O
We are all one of these four

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
The London band's new album is a vibrant postcard from southern Italy, boosted by brass, strings, and pizzica percussion from local players. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 14, 2024
